The Veterans Memorial on the corner of Alvarado Avenue and Third Street on Sept. 22 was updated with wars and conflicts that have taken place since 2001 according to VFW Post Commander Diane James. “Bill Dallmeyer, the engineer, came out on Friday (Sept. 22) morning and added the wars and conflicts to the back side of the monument,” James said. “We’ve got so many veterans now from newer conflicts. Dessert Storm in ‘93 was the last one of the newer conflicts added on the back side of the monument. It was time to include the more recent veterans.” In the picture are Post Commander Diane James and Mitch Smedberg (life member).
