The Vienna Middle School boys’ and girls track teams both placed third with the exact same point total in the 11-school field at the Linn Middle School Invitational, held Monday, April 20.
In the boys’ meet Fatima won the team title with 107.5 points while New Bloomfield was second with 96 and Vienna third with 66. In the girls’ meet New Bloomfield easily won with 169 points while host Linn was second with 85 points and Vienna third with 66.
The Vienna boys had one 1st-place finish, winning the 4x200-meter relay with a squad of Weston Schwartze, Zachary Wansing, Drew Crum and Alex Wieberg at 1:51.21.
The Eagle boys also had second-place finishes from Eli Messersmith in the 1,600-meter run at 5:26.91; the 4x100-meter relay squad of Deven Davis, Tanner James, Crum and W. Schwartze at :57.31; the 4x400-meter relay squad of Tanner Hallahan, Messersmith, Hunter Yeomans and Wieberg at 4:19.10, and the 800-meter relay squad of Hallahan, Wieberg, Coen Schwartze and Messersmith at 9:44.06.
Rowan Walker led the Lady Eagles with a second-place finish in the pole vault at 7-2 ½.
Lady Eagle third places came from Walker in the high jump at 4-1 1/4; Macey Martin in the discus at 65-6, and the 4x800-meter relay squad of Clara Jones, Lakota Curtis, Emerson Jeremy and Josie Hirschvogel at 12:47.77.
This week Vienna is scheduled to compete in the Show-Me Central Conference Meet Tuesday at Russellville High School.
