Vienna High fall sports practices begin Aug. 10

Fall begins Monday, Aug. 10, as far as the Missouri State High School Activities Association (MSHSAA) is concerned.

The first day of practice for MSHSAA fall sports teams around the state is Monday, Aug. 10, and the student-athletes and coaches from the Vienna High School squads will be out and about that day getting the campaign underway.

The Vienna softball, fall baseball and boys’ and girls cross country teams will all begin practice sessions Aug. 10 in preparation of their respective season-openers.

Cross Country: Coach David Martin will welcome his high school runners to practice from 6:20-7:50 a.m. Monday, Aug. 10. That practice time will be the same for the entire first week. The Vienna Middle School cross country squad is to begin practice Aug. 17.

The Vienna High squad is to open its schedule Aug. 29 at the Jim Marshall Invitational, starting at 9 a.m. in Jefferson City.

Softball: Lady Eagle head coach Jessica Colliver will hold her opening practice from 7-8:30 p.m. Aug. 10 at the Vienna Softball Field at City Park. That will be the practice time for the squad the entire first week.

The Lady Eagles are to compete in the Richland Jamboree Aug. 21 then officially open the schedule by hosting St. James at 5 p.m. Aug. 27.

Baseball: Eagle baseball head coach Tim Simmons will hold the first practice for the fall baseball squad at 6 p.m. Aug. 10 on the Vienna Baseball Field at City Park. The Eagles will continue to practice at 6 p.m. the rest of the week.

The Eagles are to open the season at 5 p.m. Aug. 31 in Dixon.
