Vienna boys’ and girls’ champs at SMCC Middle School Meet

Both the Vienna Middle School boys’ and girls’ track teams easily captured the team championships of the 2026 Show-Me Central Conference Middle School Meet, held Tuesday, April 28 in Russellville.

In the boys’ meet the Eagles dominated with 213 points while St. Elizabeth was second with 97. In the girls’ meet Vienna won the team title with 173 points while Jamestown was second with 109.

Vienna won 10 events in the boys’ meet.

Alex Wieberg captured the 200-meter dash at :25.37 and the 400-meter dash at :59.24; Eli Messersmith took the 800-meter run at 2:24.90 and the 1,600-meter run at 5:10.00; Tanner James the pole vault at 6-5 ½; Drew Crum the long jump at 14-11 1/4; Tanner Hallahan the triple jump at 32-6 ½; the 4x200-meter squad of Weston Schwartze, Zachary Wansing, Crum and Wieberg at 1:49.12; the 4x400-meter relay squad of Coen Schwartze, Lukas Jenkins, Noah Rains and Hunter Yeomans at 5:04.58, and the 4x800-meter relay squad of Tanner Hallahan, Deven Davis, James and C. Schwartze at 11:07.57.

For the Eagle girls, first places were by Clara Jones in the 1,600-meter run at 7:19.70; Rowan Walker in the high jump at 4-5; Grace Barnhart in the pole vault at 7-5 1/4; the 400-meter relay squad of Jasmine Covileac, Emerson Jeremy, Candace Geissel and Lakota Curtis at 5:41.22, and the 4x800-meter relay squad of Jones, Geissel, Curtis and Josie Hirschvogel at 13:11.20.

Missouri Middle School Invitational

The Vienna Middle School boys’ track squad, competing in a huge field, captured the Class 1 team crown at the Missouri Middle School Invitational, held Saturday, May 2 at the Waynesville High School Track.

There were a total of 143 schools that were divided in five different classes, determined by school size. And the Eagle boys won the Class 1 division team championship with 52 points while Christian Fellowship was second with 44. The Lady Eagles finished ninth in the girls’ Class 1 team standings with 31 points.
