Margaret Mary “Margie” Otto, 94, Argyle, passed from this life on Saturday, Aug. 1, 2026, at StoneBridge in Westphalia, surrounded by her loving family.
She was born July 5, 1932, to the late Ben Francis and Teresa Lucy (Brandel) Bauer.
She was united in marriage to Urban Fred Otto on Aug. 11, 1951, in Argyle.
Margie was a devout Christian and was a member of the St. Boniface Catholic Church in Koeltztown.
She was a member of the Auxiliary of Argyle VFW Post No. 8045 and served as the chaplain for many years, a member of Relay for Life and March of Dimes.
During her working life, she was a childcare provider in her home for 30 years, a cook at school in Argyle for five years and at Fatima in Westphalia for three years, at Mr. Jacks in Freeburg for two years and the Retirement Center for three years, all while being a devoted housewife and mother.
Margie enjoyed bingo, going to the casino, baking, cooking, of which many people enjoyed her fried chicken at her son Jeff’s restaurant in Argyle, and spending time and making precious memories with her family.
She was preceded in death by loving husband of 59 years, Urban; parents, Ben and Teresa; son, Jerome Otto; and granddaughter, Danielle Mahloch; stepmother, Sophie (Mozelewski) Kwiatkowski Bauer; and son-in-law, Don Hall.
Margie is survived by children, Venny Groene and husband Jerry of Koeltztown; Linda Hall of Wichita, Kan.; Joseph Otto and wife Nyla of Jefferson City; John Otto and friend Janice of Jefferson City; Jim Otto and wife Kathy of Argyle; Jeffery Otto and wife Michel of Argyle; and Denise Mahloch and husband Dan of Raymond, Neb.; daughter-in-law, Denice Otto of Argyle; grandchildren, Jason Groene and wife Amy, Amy Hassler and husband Rick, Derek Groene and wife Renee, Travis Massman and wife Casey, Tyler Long and wife Kas, Ethan Otto and wife Whitney, Ali Otto, Abby Otto and friend Camren, Scott Otto and wife Brittany, Dustin Otto and wife Jerica, Cameron Otto and wife Carissa, Ethan Klingele and wife Whitney, Dakota Klingele and wife Sarah, Shay Connely and wife John and Olivia Mahloch; 25 great-grandchildren, Leah, Sarah, Michael, Ava, Ella, Kenley, Benton, Avery, Jacob, Maverick, Saylor, Braelyn, Clyde, Mayven, Brantley, Nolan, Nevaeh, Forrest, Casen, Larson, Zaden, Oaklynn, Eliza, TeJzha and Miyé; granddog, Coco; and many other relatives and friends.
Mass of Christian Burial was held on Wednesday, Aug. 5, at St. Boniface Catholic Church in Koeltztown, with Rev. Basil Tigga and Deacon Michael Brook officiating.
Interment was in the St. Boniface Cemetery in Koeltztown. Pallbearers were Jason and Derek Groene, Travis Massman, Tyler Long and Scott, Dustin and Cameron Otto. Honorary pallbearers were Ethan Otto and Ethan and Dakota Klingele.
