CUBA — Jacob Walton’s Belle Lady Tiger and Tiger track teams opened their season last Monday getting a preview of the upcoming Gasconade Valley Conference (GVC) track meet later this spring at the Cuba Relays held on Cuba High School’s Wildcat Field of Pride.
Belle’s Lady Tigers tied for sixth as a team with 38 points while their Tiger counterparts placed seventh with 33 team points.
Natalie Lansford scored two teams points with a seventh-place time of 14.39 in the girls 100-meter dash while Zoe Camden placed fifth in the girls 200m dash with a time of 29.37.
Four Lady Tigers scored team points in the girls 400m dash led by Camden (2nd, 1:05.70) and followed by Lansford (3rd, 1:07.51), Avaya Kitchen (5th, 1:10.81) and Kenadie Bailey (7th, 1:13.63).
Ellanor Kent collected two teams points with a seventh-place time of 6:47.11 while Saylor Kent also placed 15th in the event for the Lady Tigers with a 15th-place time of 8:00.08.
Claiming third place in the girls 4x200m relay for the Lady Tigers in a time of 2:00.19 was the foursome of Chloe Jones, Ellie Gray, Aubrey Rehmert and Camden.
Taking fourth for Belle in the girls 4x400m relay with a time of 4:47.75 was the team of Bailey, Gray, Camden and Lansford.
Claiming two team points with a seventh-place time of 13:16.15 in the girls 4x800m relay for Belle was the Lady Tiger quartet of Saylor Kent, Ellanor Kent, Allania Moore and Bailey.
Jones placed seventh with a throw of 8.60m in the girls shot put for Belle while Kennady Kinkead posted a 10th-place throw of 21.95m in the girls discus.
Kaylee Hazelwood (21st, 16.44m) and Hayden Fann (23rd, 15.17m) also competed for the Lady Tigers in the girls discus.
Rehmert started her senior season with a victory in the girls javelin posting a first-place throw of 39.66m.
Sprinting for the Tigers in the boys 100m dash at Cuba were Connor Weigel (27th, 13.12), Connor LeRoux (33rd, 13.39), Braxton Ahart (37th, 13.62), Kaegan Kinsey (39th, 13.81), Brice Robertson (43rd, 14.20), Eric Mallard (46th, 14.66) and Landon Storz (50th, 14.81).
Malachi Fredendall scored five team points for Belle with his fourth-place time of 24.53 in the boys 200m dash.
Fredendall also posted a second-place time of 52.76 in the boys 400m dash.
Miles Frey picked up three team points with his sixth-place time of 2:20.66 in the girls 800m run.
Coltin Hazelwood posted a pair of fifth-place times in the boys 1600m and 3200m runs of 5:24.79 and 12:14.38 respectively.
Isaiah Spurgeon (13th, 56.39) and Trevor Frey (57.14) competed for Belle’s Tigers in the boys 300m hurdles.
Picking up two team points in the boys 4x100m relay was the Tiger foursome of Cason Taylor, David Skaggs, Trevor Frey and Ahart in a time of 50.98.
Ending the meet with a third-place time of 3:50.54 in the boys 4x400m relay was the Tiger quartet of Miles Frey, Skaggs, Fredendall and Weigel.
Also posting a third-place time of 9:10.01 in the boys 4x800m relay for Belle was the team of Hazelwood, Fredendall, Skaggs and Miles Frey.
Brayden Barzee picked up team points with a sixth-place throw of 11.80m in the boys shot put.
Placing behind Barzee for the Tigers in the boys shot put were Robertson (14th, 10.78m), Brayden Gibson (21st, 8.97m), Wyatt Weller (24th, 8.36m), Michael Spurgeon (32nd, 7.44m), Jacob Penserum (33rd, 7.44m) and Waylyn Weller (34th, 6.91m).
Barzee also led the Tigers placing eighth in the discus with a mark of 30.27m in addition to a sixth-place throw of 34.22m in the boys javelin.
Kinsey picked up team points for Belle clearing 1.80m in the boys high jump with place fifth.
Competing Monday in Linn and last night (Tuesday) in Vienna, BHS Track and Field will return to action this weekend on Saturday, April 11 in Cole County at Russellville High School.
