Thomas A. Elrod, Sr., 93, Belle, passed away Wednesday, May 31, 2023, at the Capital Region Medical Center in Jefferson City.
He was born Feb. 10, 1930, to the late Allen Boney and Annie Belle (Whalen) Elrod on the Bent Elrod Homestead in Maries County.
He was a 1947 graduate of Belle High School.
Thomas served his country in the U. S. Marine Corp from 1952 until 1960.
He was united in marriage to Anna Belle Stockton June 14, 1952 at the home of her parents near Belle.
Tom was employed as a heavy equipment operator and a truck driver.
He was preceded in death by parents, Allen and Annie; siblings, Leonard Elrod and wife Billie, Mildred Murdock and husband John, Wink Elrod and wife Venita and LaVaughn Zimmer.
Tom is survived by wife, Anna; children, Thomas Allen Elrod, Jr. and wife Elaine of Rolla, Mary Louise Backes and husband Gary of Linn, James Ray Elrod and wife Bonnie of Belle and Carol Ann Porter and husband Mark of Hardeeville, S.C.; six grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and in-laws, Marvin Zimmer and Walker and Oma Flood.
Funeral Services were held June 3, at Liberty Church of Christ. Interment was in the Union Hill Cemetery near Vienna.
