Roger Sherrell



Roger Shelby Sherrell, of Dixon, passed away on March 11, 2023, at the age of 70.

He was born on April 10, 1952, in Dixon, to the late Charlie Lester and Cora Dale (Rollins) Sherrell. 

He was united in marriage to Mary Kathrine Stecker, Oct. 26, 1983, in Dixon. 

Roger was a lifelong resident of Dixon. He worked for the Dixon School District in the Maintenance Department. He and his brother Sam owned and operated Withers Station. In his free time he enjoyed crappie fishing, rabbit hunting, farming, gardening, bailing hay, and spending time with family and friends.

He was preceded in death by father, Charlie Lester Sherrell (1987); mother, Cora Dale (Rollins) Sherrell (2009); granddaughter, Mikayla Sherrell (Oct. 21, 2016); brother, Charles Sherrell (Sept. 3, 2019); sister-in-law, Pauline Sherrell; brother-in-law Ron Hale; and niece, Angela Sherrell.

Roger is survived by wife, Mary Sherrell of Dixon; son, Jimmy Sherrell and wife Amy of Dixon; daughter Jennifer Bremer and husband Johnny of Dixon; step-son Jeremy Robertson of Houston; step-daughter Leslie Hauck and Travis of Dixon; brother Sam Sherrell and wife Sandy of Dixon; sisters, Linda Campbell of Dixon, Idena Hale of Rolla, and Connie Morgan and husband Mike of Farmington; grandchildren, Nick Robertson, Emily Robertson, Tucker Robertson, Sutton Hauck, Mirissa Sherrell, RaeAnn Bremer, Dylan Ramsey, and Payton Ramsey; and other nieces, nephews, family and friends.

Funeral services for Roger S. Sherrell will be conducted at 1 p.m. on Thursday, March 16, at the Santee Community Church in Dixon. Interment will follow in the Freedom Cemetery. A visitation for family and friends will be held prior to the service beginning at 11 a.m. at the church.

Memorial contributions are suggested to the Freedom Cemetery Perpetual Care Fund.
