Belle freshman Nolie Finnegan (far right) narrowly edges Harrisburg freshman Marie Bergfield for the fourth and final state qualifying spot in the Class 2 girls 1600-meter run during one of four Missouri State High School Activities Association (MSHSAA) Class 2 sectional track meets held Saturday at South Callaway High School in Mokane. Finnegan also qualified for this weekend’s MSHSAA State Track and Field Championships in the Class 2 girls 3200m run with a third-place time of 13:32.59. Finnegan will compete in the girls 1600m run at 1:15 p.m., on Friday before racing in the girls 3200m run on Saturday at 3:30 p.m., inside Jefferson City High School’s Adkins Stadium. Joining Finnegan at the 2024 MSHSAA Track and Field Championships from Belle High School will be sophomore Audrey Rehmert in the girls javelin after she placed second in the event during Saturday’s sectional meet.
