BELLE — Kisha Woodruff, co-sponsor of Trek for Tech, announced 270 Belle Elementary School (BES) students completed 3,000 laps on Friday to raise money for technology.

“Trek for Tech is a fundraising event Belle Elementary participates in yearly,” Woodruff said. “Students have raised almost $60,000 in the past 11 years.”

Woodruff said the funds have allowed the elementary school to stay one-to-one in technology.

“The money has purchased Chromebooks, interactive projectors, and Smartboards,” Woodruff said.

Trek for Tech allows each class to take an hour out of their day and walk as many laps around the track as possible. Students ask friends and family members to sponsor them with a flat rate or a price per lap completed.

“Fundraising forms went home on Sept. 15,” Woodruff said. “These forms and money will need to come back to school between Sept. 26 and Oct. 4. Anyone who brings in at least $1 will earn a prize. The more money you raise, the more prizes you earn.”

Classes who earn the most are also rewarded.

• Top class - Popcorn/soda party

• First place - all day trip to iHop and The Zone with three friends.

• Second Place - half-day trip to Thunder Alley Bowling with three friends.

• Third Place - Class Pizza Party

“We are also selling shirts as part of the fundraiser and order forms and money for the shirts are due on Sept. 29,” Woodruff said.

No late t-shirt orders will be accepted.
