Vienna will be the site of a Turkey Trot 1.5 mile and 5K family fun run/walk to be held at the park on Thanksgiving Day, Thursday, Nov. 26.

The event is sponsored by the Maries R-1 Cross Country teams. Cross County Coach David Martin said the teams wanted to do a community service project and said, “What better to do but run.”

The entry fee for the race, which begins at 8 a.m. is $5 per person or five non-perishable food items. All proceeds from the event will directly support local families in conjunction with the Maries R-1 Giving Tree Christmas program.

There will be four race divisions for the event. These are children’s race for ages 12 and younger, male and female, and adult race for ages 13 and over, male and female. The children’s division race will be 1.5 miles, and the adult division race will be 5K or 3.1 miles. The walking participants will participate in the 1.5 mile distance. All races will use the cross country course at the park. All of races will begin at 8 a.m.

There will be awards given to the top three finishers in each running division of children male, children female, adult male, and adult female. There will be a special prize given to the overall Turkey Trot Grand Champion.

Run/walk participants can pre-register at https://forms.gle/ZZJaxBG1jTPa4eQV8 or register in person on race day, which opens at 7 a.m. The registration tent will be located near the 4-H barn.
