Michael Dean Martin has been charged with the class E felony of domestic assault and banned from the city limits of Belle.
According to a probable cause statement, a reporting party told Belle City Marshal Jerry Coborn that on Nov. 13 they locked Martin out of an apartment and Martin began beating on the door. The statement says the party reported that Martin then displayed a knife, walked to her vehicle, and made a slashing motion toward a tire.
She told authorities she went outside and Martin pushed her, and that he continued pushing her after she returned inside and tried to lock the door. According to the filing, she said she ran back out of the apartment and Martin knocked the phone from her hand as she tried to call 911 before she got into her vehicle and contacted emergency services.
A warrant was served on Nov. 14 with bond set at $25,000 cash or surety including conditions prohibiting contact with the reported victim and that Martin not enter Belle city limits except to retrieve belongings with a police escort. The court also ordered Martin to follow all terms of an ex parte order.
He was scheduled to appear Tuesday in front of Judge Kerry Rowden in the Associate Court of Maries County.
