Lois Rita (Lischwe) Nelson, of St. Louis, formerly of Brinktown, passed away Saturday, Jan.7, 2023, in Delmar Gardens South, St. Louis.
She was born Aug. 12, 1950,to Joseph Jacob and Lucetta Clara (Gilk) Lischwe at Waynesville.
She was united in marriage to Jimmie Joe “Jim” Nelson, Aug. 19, 1972, at Brinktown.
Lois was a graduate of the Dixon R-1 High School, Dixon, and the University of Missouri, Columbia. She grew up in the Holy Guardian Angels Catholic Church in Brinktown, and was a member of St. Catherine Laboure Catholic Church in Sunset Hills. Lois served as president of the Ladies Auxiliary of Knights of Columbus council 12323, Sunset Hills, and was a member of the American Society for Clinical Pathology.
Lois was employed as laboratory manager for Missouri Baptist Health Center, Town and Country, and in the microbiology laboratory at St. Mary’s Hospital, Clayton, for 35 plus years prior to her retirement.
She was preceded in death by parents, Joseph and Lucetta; father-in-law, Theron Nelson; and mother-in-law, Lavon Nelson.
She is survived by husband, Jim, of their home in Sappington; children, Dr. Stephanie J. Nelson of Sunset Hills, Eric J. Nelson and wife Cameron of Sherman Oaks, Calif., and Sara E. Nelson of St. Louis; siblings, Ron Lischwe and wife Teresa of Bloomfield, Conn., and Joan Brundick and husband Chris of Argyle; brother-in-law, Tom Nelson and wife Vicky of Belle; and sister-in-law Kathy Wansing and husband Alan of Chesterfield.
A Mass of Christian burial was held Saturday, Jan. 21, in Holy Guardian Angels Catholic Church, Brinktown, with Rev. Basil Tigga as the celebrant and Deacon Michael Brooks assisting. Interment was in the Holy Guardian Angels Cemetery, Brinktown.
Memorials suggested for Masses or to the Holy Guardian Angels Cemetery Perpetual Care Fund.
