Linn faced a formidable St. Louis-area opponent in the second of two games on Saturday, falling to Westminster 3-0.

After scoring one in the first, Westminster plated two in the fifth.

Linn, meanwhile, had an opportunity to score in the first but couldn’t make it happen. Emma Starke began the inning and reached first after being hit by a pitch. Hannah Hackmann (1-3) singled to put two aboard, and two batters later, Emma Monnette (1-2) singled to load the bases. However, they were stranded.

Kiana Hostetler (1-3), Kenzy Hackmann (1-4), and Elli Dudenhoeffer (1-3) also reached base but couldn’t get home.

From the rubber, Sophie Voss took the loss after a complete game in which she struck out five and walked one while allowing three earned runs on eight hits.

Earlier in the day, the Lady Cats defeated St. Francis Borgia, 5-4, after a seventh-inning surge by the Lady Knights and a walk-off to seal the win.

Borgia scored four in the top of the seventh to take a 4-3 lead after a grand slam. Linn returned to the batter’s box in the bottom of the frame and plated two in a walk-off win.

Starke (1-3, RBI), H. Hackmann (2-3), and Ava Warren (1-3, RBI) delivered consecutive one-out singles.

Monnette (1-3, RBI) hit a sac fly to plate Starke and push H. Hackmann to third.

Tied at 4-4, Kylie Peters (1-4, RBI) dropped a line-drive single in center field to bring home Hackmann for the victory.

K. Hackmann (2-3, double) and Dudenhoeffer (1-3, RBI) also provided offense.

Linn plated one in the third and two in the fifth.

Warren’s complete-game performance included five strikeouts and just one walk as she gave up three earned runs on seven hits.

On Thursday, the Lady Cats used an 11-4 hitting advantage to defeat Eugene 6-3.

Leading 4-3 going into the seventh, Linn plated two insurance runs and held on for the win.

H. Hackmann (3-4, double, 2 RBI) led the offense, as Voss (double) and Starke (2 RBI) each added two hits, and K. Hackmann (double), Warren (2 RBI), Peters, and Dudenhoeffer counted one hit apiece.

Voss notched the win with eight strikeouts and four walks; she allowed three earned runs on four hits.
