Laverne Conner 1929-2026

Laverne Bernice Conner, 96, Brinktown, passed away on Monday, March 16, 2026, at St. Mary’s Hospital in Jefferson City, surrounded by her loving family.

She was born on July 30, 1929, the daughter of the late George and Victoria (Teets) Mann in Swinton.

She was united in marriage to Lawrence F. Conner, Sr., in November of 1961.

Laverne began her working career in the Shoe Factory in Advance. She later worked for many years within the Stock Brokerage Industry in Operations.  Her successful career was evident of her strong work ethic.

Laverne was always well dressed to the “9s.” She was a talented seamstress making many of her own outfits and her children’s clothes. 

Laverne enjoyed playing many different types of games and spending time with her family.

She was preceded in death by husband, Lawrence; parents, George and Victoria; infant sister, Marilyn Mann; sister, Shelby Spears; and granddaughter, Cassandra Cheatham.

Laverne is survived by daughter, Linda Conner-Frank and husband Kevin of  Brinktown; sons, Steven Conner and friend Vicky Stratman and Larry Conner, Jr., and friend Connie Delcour, both of Brinktown; grandchildren, Ashley Carruth, Julie Conner, Amanda Cheatham, Mary Peska, and Anna, Steven Jr. and Cora Conner; great-grandchildren, Christina Cheatham, Jessica Whitehead, RJ Cheatham and Tatum Conner; and siblings, Kernethia Pruitt of Florissant and Gerald Mann and wife Joyce of Odessa.

Visitation was held from 9 until 11 a.m., (today) Wednesday, March 25, followed by the funeral service at Trimble Funeral Homes in Westphalia, with Pastor Chuck Whitmire officiating.

Interment will be in the Vienna Public Cemetery.
