BOURBON — Dispatching Bourbon (60-24) and Steelville (46-32) during the first two rounds of the annual Battle in Bourbon Girls Basketball Tournament earlier last week at Bourbon High School, Biance Stocks’ Belle Lady Tigers earned another shot at Dixon’s Lady Bulldogs in the championship game Saturday afternoon.
Dixon handed Belle a 44-40 loss on their home court back on Dec. 15 and the Lady Tigers were after revenge and a possible leg up in the district seed process.
Taking an early 3-0 lead on an Anastyn Lansford 3-pointer at the 6:37 mark of the first quarter, Belle saw Dixon close the first eight minutes on a 14-2 run leaving them trailing 14-5 entering the second quarter.
Trailing throughout the majority of the game, Saige Garner hit a 3-pointer with 1:34 left pulling the Lady Tigers to within a point at 41-40.
Unable to get any closer, Belle settled for second-place hardware following a 43-40 loss to the Lady Bulldogs.
“Our girls competed hard this week and we just weren’t able to overcome a big deficit throughout the game,” Stocks said. “We keep improving and getting better and I’m proud of the girls for sticking with things.”
Named to the All-Tournament Team at Bourbon, Anastyn Lansford led the Lady Tigers with 18 points against Dixon.
Natalie Lansford also added eight points, four rebounds and three assists.
Aubrey Rehmert scored six points and grabbed nine rebounds while also being named to the All-Tournament Team alongside the elder Lansford.
Garner chipped in five points while pulling down a team-high 11 rebounds.
Ava Feeler netted three points while also grabbing five rebounds for the Lady Tigers.
Inez Ballard led Dixon with 18 points and five rebounds.
Lady Tigers vs. Steelville
Playing Steelville for the second time in nearly a week, Belle’s Lady Tigers were looking to punch their ticket to the Battle in Bourbon Tournament title game last Thursday night.
Leading 15-8 at halftime, Belle outscored the Lady Cardinals 31-24 in the second half of their 46-32 semifinal victory.
Anastyn Lansford showed the way for the Lady Tigers with 27 points, seven rebounds and three steals.
Natalie Lansford threw in nine points, four rebounds and four assists.
Rehmert scored all eight of her points in the second half while also grabbing eight rebounds.
Garner capped Belle’s scoring with a bucket in the fourth quarter for two points.
Emeri Perkins led the Lady Cardinals with 13 points.
Lady Tigers vs. Bourbon
Facing the Lady Warhawks for the second time this season, Belle looked to advance to the winner’s side of the bracket with another win over Bourbon.
Nursing an 11-6 lead after one quarter, Belle broke the game open outscoring the Lady Warhawks 41-9 over the next two quarters of their 60-24 opening-round victory.
Rehmert led four Lady Tigers in double digits with 17 points and seven rebounds while Natalie Lansford added 15 points four rebounds, four assists and four steals.
Anastyn Lansford baked up 13 points, five steals, four assists and three rebounds while Feeler scored nine of her 10 points in the second half all on made 3-point shots.
Belle will be hunting for more tournament hardware this week down in Stoutland.
