Lady Tigers claim consolation hardware from Russellville tournament

Dropping games in pool play to Iberia (74-42) and Russellville (46-45) at the Russellville Girls Basketball Tournament, Biance Stocks’ Belle Lady Tigers looked to end their week in Cole County on a winning note in the consolation championship game Saturday afternoon against Eugene’s Lady Eagles.

Trailing 17-12 at halftime, Belle used a 15-2 third-quarter run to help them secure fifth place and consolation hardware at Russellville with a 44-32 victory over Eugene.

Senior Anastyn Lansford led the Lady Tigers with 19 points, five rebounds and three assists.

Saige Garner also reached double figures scoring all 10 of her points in the third quarter while also grabbing six rebounds.

Ava Feeler just missed making it a double-digit scoring trio for Belle finishing with nine points, three rebounds and three assists.

Aubrey Rehmert added four points and a team-high seven rebounds while Natalie Lansford capped the Lady Tiger scoring against Eugene with two points, six rebounds and four assists.

Named to the Russellville All-Tournament Team for the Lady Tigers was Anastyn Lansford who also surpassed 1,500 career points during their loss to Iberia.

Lady Tigers at Russellville

Dropping their opening pool-play contest against Iberia last Thursday night, Belle’s Lady Tigers looked to even their record at 1-1 in tournament play against the host Russellville Lady Indians last Friday night.

Leading 17-11 after one quarter, Belle trailed 22-21 at halftime before falling behind 33-26 entering the fourth quarter.

Able to close the gap during the final eight minutes, Belle narrowly came up short in their bid for a second-half comeback dropping a 46-45 decision.

Anastyn Lansford paced the Lady Tigers with a team-high 16 points while also grabbing six rebounds.

Feeler and Rehmert both finished with nine points apiece.

Rehmert added five rebounds and three assists to her nine points.

Garner added five points while also pulling down a team-high nine rebounds for the Lady Tigers.

Natalie Lansford capped the Belle scoring against Russellville with three points, six assists and five rebounds.

Belle vs. Iberia

Finally able to start the Russellville Girls Basketball Tournament last Thursday night after remnants of Winter Storm Fern caused the start of action to be delayed by three nights, Stocks’ Lady Tigers faced Iberia’s Lady Rangers in their opening game of pool play.

Trailing 12-6 after one quarter, Belle senior Anastyn Lansford surpassed 1,500 points for her career early in the second quarter before the Lady Tigers went into halftime trailing the Lady Rangers 37-24.

Unable to overcome a 26-11 third quarter, Belle dropped a 74-42 decision to Iberia.

In addition to surpassing 1,500 career points, Anastyn Lansford led the Lady Tigers and all scorers with 27 points and five rebounds while Natalie Lansford followed with seven points, six rebounds and four rebounds.

Garner added six points and six rebounds to go along with two points, three rebounds and three assists from Feeler.

Rehmert also pulled down a team-high seven rebounds for Belle.

Hosting Salem’s Lady Tigers for senior night last night (Tuesday), Belle will head west into Miller County tomorrow (Thursday) night for a road showdown against Iberia’s Lady Rangers looking to avenge their recent loss from the Russellville Tournament.
