BELLE — Heartland Regional Library in Belle will celebrate Dolly Parton on Sept. 25 by collecting food items for its 2026 Heartland Meal Kits program.
The library is promoting the event as “Be Like Dolly Day,” honoring Parton’s reputation for generosity, community involvement and support of others.
“We’re celebrating Miss Dolly on 9/25!” the library announced on its Facebook page. “Dolly was known for her love of community and big heart! What better way to honor her by kicking off Heartland Meal Kits 2026.”
The items collected will be assembled into shelf-stable meal kits and donated to local food pantries in early December.
Residents may begin participating on Sept. 25 by bringing a qualifying item to the Belle library. Requested donations include canned chicken breast, mixed vegetables, diced potatoes, evaporated milk, cream of chicken soup, chili with beans, chili without beans and diced tomatoes with green chilies. The library will also accept boxes of two-gallon Ziploc bags.
Those who donate will receive what the library described as “a little Dolly love” for helping with the project.
Parton was an internationally known singer, songwriter, actress and philanthropist whose charitable work included the Dollywood Foundation and Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library, which provides books to young children.
