Harold Gene Whitaker, 91, Bland, passed away Sunday, March 8, 2026, at his residence surrounded by his family.
He was born July 3, 1934, a son to the late James and Linnie Mae (Hope) Whitaker in Hillside, Ky.
He attended school at Muhlenberg High School in Kentucky.
Harold served his country proudly in the U. S. Marine Corps from 1956 until his discharge in 1958.
He worked as a tablet coater for a pharmaceutical company before his retirement.
Harold enjoyed playing golf, fishing, riding motorcycles both on and off road, bowling, coaching softball and of course spending time with his family.
He was preceded in death by spouse of 54 years; parents, James and Linnie; and two brothers.
Harold is survived by daughters, Tamara Leach and husband Christopher of Warrenton and Christine Orlando of Bland; grandchildren, Kymberly Orlando and husband Keith, Stephen Leach and wife Kristen, Ashley Workman, Michael Orlando and wife Eileen and Hollyanne Reel and husband Levi; 11 great-grandchildren with number 12 on the way; and one great-great-grandchild.
Visitation was held on Friday March 13, at Sassmann’s Chapel in Bland.
Memorial contributions suggested to the American Cancer Society.
