A residential fire Sept. 18 at the home of Dave and Debbie Carver resulted in a total loss. The property, located on the 100 block of Sixth Street, is owned by Dave and Debbie Carver. “We fought it, start to finish, probably five or six hours,” Abel said, adding that he was not the first truck on the scene.“Thecallcameoutabout12:30p.m.”Abel said the owner, Dave Carver, was home at the time of the fire. “The owner did tell me his house had been struck by lightning the week before and they had been having issues,” Abel said. “When I left, it was still undetermined. They didn’t call the Missouri State Fire Marshal.” As of Tuesday afternoon, Abel said the cause of the fire is unknown. “I assume the insurance company will send their own inspector out,” said Assistant Fire Chief Nathan Abel. “When they do send an inspector out, they generally always get a hold of us.” Fire departments from Belle, Bland, Owensville, Vichy, Linn, Gerald, and Rosebud were all called to the scene.
