Elmer Gene Tyree, 90, Linn, passed away on Wednesday, Jan. 21, 2026, at SSM Health St. Mary’s in Jefferson City.
He was born on Nov. 21, 1935, to the late Robert Earl and Ruby Opal (Monroe) Tyree in Judge.
He attended Pointer’s Creek School near Linn.
Elmer was united in marriage to Joan E. Green on Jan. 17, 1959, in Bland. Joan preceded him in death on Nov. 20, 1989. Then on May 23, 1998, he was united in marriage to Jackie J. (Francis) Helmig at Solid Rock Baptist Church in Judge.
Elmer was employed at the pants factory in Linn and Jefferson City and later at Von Hoffman Press in Jefferson City.
He was preceded in death by parents, Robert and Ruby; first wife of 30 years, Joan; grandsons, Cory Tyree and Cody Patredis.
Elmer is survived by second wife, Jackie; children, Carl Tyree and wife Lisa of Pensacola, Fla., Paul Tyree and wife Julie of Denver, Colo., Dale Tyree and wife Robin of Owensville, Kelly Hale of Jefferson City, John Helmig and Matt Helmig and wife Darlene, all of Belle and David Helmig and wife Christina of Tebbetts; 21 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; brothers, Herbert Tyree of Linn and Ronnie Tyree and wife Darlene of Chamois; and sister, Betty Miller of Linn
Visitation will be held from 4 until 7 p.m., (today) Wednesday, Jan. 28, at Morton Chapel in Linn.
Funeral Service will be held at 11 a.m., Thursday, Jan. 29, at Solid Rock Baptist Church in Judge with Pastor Troy Sousa officiating. Interment will be held at Solid Rock Cemetery in Judge.
