The district championship game is slated for 5 p.m. Wednesday, May 20.

The District 8 champion is to play the District 7 champion Monday, May 25 in sectional playoff action at a location to be determined. Schools in District 7 include Northwest Hughesville, New Franklin, Sweet Springs, Pilot Grove, Ottersville and Glasgow.

The District 8/District 7 survivor will meet either the District 5 or District 6 champion in the quarterfinals Wednesday, May 27. The Class 1 Final Four is set for the Ozark Mountain Sports Complex in Ozark, with the semifinals to be held Monday, June 1, with the championship and third-place games set for Tuesday, June 2.

Last week the Vienna Eagles posted a pair of home victories at City Park. In a battle between a pair of teams that have been state-ranked this spring, Vienna clipped Iberia 2-1 Thursday, May 7. And on Vienna Senior Day Wednesday, May 6 the Eagles clobbered New Haven 16-1.

Vienna is to end its regular season this week, at Belle Monday and at Dixon Tuesday.

May 7 - Vienna 2, Iberia 1: In a wild finish, the Eagles scored both of their runs in the bottom of the seventh inning to pull off the come-from-behind win over the Iberia Rangers, who received votes in last week’s Missouri Class 2 state poll.

Iberia got a run in the top of the fourth inning and the pitching duel remained 1-0 entering the bottom of the seventh.

The Eagles broke through in the seventh, as senior Troy Wulff singled, sophomore Wyatt Wulff walked and senior Dylan Long belted an RBI single to score T. Wulff with the tying run. The Eagles then loaded the bases when a walk by junior Mason Via forced home W. Wulff with the game-winning run.

T. Wulff and junior Hunter Schwartze combined for the victory on the mound for the Eagles. Wulff worked six innings, allowing the run on five hits and one walk while striking out nine. Schwartze threw a perfect seventh inning to get the win, fanning two.

Iberia pitching limited Vienna to just three hits, from T. Wulff, senior Reid Nichols and Long. T. Wulff stole two bases and W. Wulff one.

Iberia won the junior varsity game 6-0.

May 6 - Vienna 16, New Haven 1: Getting an 11-hit attack and a one-hit pitching performance by junior Evan Simmons the Eagles roared over the New Haven Shamrocks of the Four Rivers Conference.

In a game that was stopped after four innings due to the run rule, Simmons throttled the New Haven attack on one earned run, one hit and four walks while striking out eight.

Simmons got plenty of support. The Eagles got two runs in the bottom of the first inning. New Haven cut its deficit to 2-1 with a run in the top of the third. However, Vienna pulled away with two runs in the bottom of the third and a 12-run fourth inning.

The Eagles outhit the Shamrocks 11-1 and Vienna took advantage of five New Haven fielding errors.

T. Wulff had a double, two singles and scored a run for the Eagles while junior Brett Welschmeyer had a double, single and scored three runs; Schwartze had a hit, two RBI and three runs; Simmons two hits; Nichols a double with four RBI; Long a hit, three RBI and run; Via a hit, two RBI and run; W. Wulff three runs and an RBI, and senior Caden Kelley scored a run. The Eagles stole four bases.
