Donald Oliver Hassler, 84, Bland, passed away on June 1, 2026, at Phelps County Hospital in Rolla.
He was born on June 30, 1941, to the late Forrest Raymond and Clara (Brandt) Hassler in Bland.
He was a long-time area resident and a 1959 graduate of Bland High School.
Don had been employed as a prison guard in Jefferson City when he was younger and retired from Bull Moose in Gerald after 10 years.
He was of the Baptist faith and had been attending the Bland Baptist Church.
Don enjoyed attending the Bull Moose Lodge in Owensville as well as playing cards at the senior center there. He liked to fish and hunt when he was younger, was a long-time pool player and an avid St. Louis Cardinal fan. Don loved to travel and took many bus trips and visited many parts of the United States. He will be missed greatly by those that knew and loved him.
Don was preceded in death by parents, Forrest and Clara; siblings, Orville Hassler, Leoda Durbin, Juanita Wheeler, Shirley Jarvis and Norma Dean Shanks.
He is survived by brother, James Hassler and wife Pete of Osage Beach as well as many extended family members and friends.
Funeral services were held on Friday, June 5, at Sassmann’s Chapel in Belle. Interment was in the College Hill Cemetery.
