Donald “Donnie” A. Chambers, 52, of Vienna, passed away Thursday, Dec. 22, 2022, at Phelps Health in Rolla.

He was born June 10, 1970, in Rolla, a son to the late Donald E. Chambers and Betty Sue Prigge, who survives of Vichy.

He was a 1988 graduate of Belle High School.

Donnie was united in marriage to Ramona Stroud, Feb. 19, 2005, at the First Pentecostal Church in Vichy. She survives at their home in Vienna.

He worked all his working life in law enforcement, first with the Maries County Sheriffs Department for over 30 years and then for the Phelps County Sheriff’s Department where he worked until his health no longer allowed. He was also a longtime member of the Vichy Volunteer Fire Department, which his dad helped to establish.

Donnie was a member of the Tabernacle of Praise Church in Rolla and the Vichy Community Park, where he served on the board, most recently as vice-president.

He enjoyed boating on the river, fishing, baking and cooking with his family, going to local sporting events and cheering on the players and cheerleaders, getting together with family and friends around a campfire, serving as a DJ at local events and most of all spending time with his loving family.

Donnie was preceded in death by father, Donald; paternal grandparents, Thomas and Marie Chambers; and maternal grandparents, Edwin and Verle Prigge.

He is survived by mother, Betty; wife of 17 years, Ramona; daughters, Dimesha Chambers and Elizabeth Chambers both of the home; brother, Mark Chambers of Vichy; stepsister, Theresa Theberge of Houston, Texas; stepmother, Brenda (Matthews) Chambers of Houston, Texas; father-in-law, William Stroud of Vienna and mother-in-law Tammy Achter of Anniston; uncle-in-law, James Daniel Stroud of Vienna; sisters-in-law, Tasha Woodworth of Anniston, and Amy Achter of East Prairie; nieces and nephews, Shayne Shaul, Austin Achter, Dakota Woodworth, Amber Woodworth, Nathaniel Achter, Dominic Gasper, Nevaeh Achter, Gabriella “Gabby” Gasper, Theidora Theberge and Emeri Hamm; and great-niece Everly Hill; as well as many other cousins extended family and friends that loved him dearly.

Funeral services were held Tuesday, Dec. 27, at the Tabernacle of Praise Church in Rolla, with Pastor Tim Blackwell officiating. Interment will be at a later date in the Macedonia Cemetery in Vichy.
