David “Dave” Gregory Sankey, 56, Koeltztown, passed away Monday, Feb. 16, 2026.

He was born on Sept. 27, 1969, to the late Gregory Otto Sankey, Jr. and Margaret Clara (Falter) Sankey in Jefferson City.

He was united in marriage to Karen Lynn Wieberg on April 30, 1994, at Little Flock Baptist Church in Vienna.

Dave graduated from Fatima High School in 1987. After graduation, he honorably served his country in the U.S. Marine Corp from 1987 – 1990. He was served a past board member of the St. Boniface Cemetery Board.

Dave was a lifelong farmer who also owned and operated KD Enterprise and Sankey Trucking, dedicating many years to hard work and serving his community. For the past 11 years, he was employed with DeLong’s, Inc., out of Jefferson City, where he continued to put his strong work ethic and mechanical knowledge to good use.

In his spare time, Dave enjoyed fishing and hunting, and there was nothing he loved more than dancing with Karen or gathering around a bonfire with family and friends.

He was known for being a little stubborn at times, but he also knew how to have a good time and never missed a chance to pester someone, especially those he loved most. A loyal friend and a man always willing to lend a helping hand, he could fix just about anything.

Dave was a talented fish and chicken fryer, an excellent barbecue cook and a natural storyteller. Most recently, he found joy in baking fresh bread and making pies for those he cared about.

Above all else, Dave cherished his family and the time they shared together.

He was preceded in death by beloved wife, Karen; parents, Gregory and Margaret; and brother, Keith Sankey.

Dave is survived by his loving family, which includes stepsons, Johnny Stein of California and Paul Wieberg of Columbia; stepdaughters, Lynne Brandt of Vienna and Elizabeth “Betsy” Watring and husband Greg of Argyle; brother, Glenn Sankey and wife Christy of Koeltztown; sister, Carol Jones and husband Larry of Koeltztown; sister-in-law, Cara Nilges of Koeltztown; step-grandchildren, Ethan, Clayton and Delaney Brandt, Hanna, Dylan and Mason Huhn and Milla and Niccola Stein; and many nieces and nephews.

A Mass of Christian Burial was held on Saturday, Feb. 21, at St. Boniface Catholic Church in Koeltztown. Interment was in St. Boniface Cemetery.

Memorial contributions suggested to the St. Boniface Cemetery Perpetual Care Fund.

Arrangements entrusted to Null and Son Funeral Home of Rolla.
