Daniel “Danny” Leander Berhorst, 80, Freeburg, passed away on Thursday, April 2, 2026, at Westphalia Hills Nursing Home.
He was born Oct. 22, 1945, to the late Bernard John “Ben” and Louise Marie (Bock) Berhorst in Freeburg.
He was united in marriage to Elizabeth “Betty” Virgina Hagenhoff on June 12, 1971, in Freeburg.
Danny was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church in Freeburg.
He had been self-employed raising cattle and hogs, and later dogs.
He was preceded in death by parents, Ben and Louise; granddaughter, Molly Woodward; sisters, Betty Ann Redel, Mary Louise Bagneschi and Virgina Berhorst; and brother, Bernard “Jack” John Berhorst.
Danny is survived by wife, Betty, of Vienna; daughter, Terri Woodward of Freeburg; sons, Shawn Berhorst and wife Jill, Benjamin Berhorst and wife Erin and Rodney Berhorst and wife Beth, all of Freeburg; 11 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; sister, Patricia Dvorak; and sister-in-law, Jean Berhorst.
A Funeral Mass was held (today)Wednesday, April 8, at the Holy Family Catholic Church in Freeburg, with Rev. William Debo officiating.
Interment was in the Holy Family Cemetery in Freeburg.
Memorial contributions suggested by the family for Masses and to Hospice Compassus.
