A felony case and a misdemeanor case against Larry James Pack of Belle moved forward Jan. 6 in Osage County as a case claiming he was driving under the influence of fentanyl was bound over to Division II.
According to the probable cause statement filed in August of last year, Trooper T. Brewer of Missouri State Highway Patrol Troop F responded to a June 22, 2025 call reporting a silver Acura weaving and crossing into oncoming traffic. The reporting party further advised that the driver had stopped at the Cooper Hill bridge, blocked both lanes of travel and began to strike his head with his fists before getting back into the vehicle.
Brewer stated that upon his arrival, he located the vehicle in a private driveway on County Road 705 with the driver appearing slumped at the wheel.
Reporting that Pack had slow, low, raspy speech, droopy eyelids, glassy eyes, constricted pupils and sweating profusely, Brewer said he asked Pack to submit to a field test. The officer stated that during the field sobriety test he asked Pack when the last time he used fentanyl to which Pack allegedly responded, “Last night before I went to sleep.”
Reportedly, a black and orange capsule was located in the vehicle and a black and blue capsule on Pack’s person.
He faces the class D felony charge of possession of a controlled substance and the class B misdemeanor driving while intoxicated in Osage County and is scheduled to appear April 1 at 9 a.m. with Judge Ryan Helfrich presiding.
Pack currently faces additional charges in Maries County for a separate drug-related case stemming from an incident that allegedly occurred just three days later. In that case, a reported overdose in the 200 block of West Fourth Street in Belle on June 25, 2025 led to Pack being charged with the class C felony of delivery of a controlled substance, three counts of the class D felony possession of a controlled substance and the class E felonies possession of drug paraphernalia and tampering with physical evidence in felony prosecution.
As previously reported in The Maries County Advocate, a detailed search of the residence uncovered a variety of illegal substances and drug paraphernalia. Among the items seized were a 4-gram rock of methamphetamine, raw heroin, black tar heroin and fentanyl; a single heroin capsule; and 52 grams of marijuana. Officers also recovered 10 glass smoking pipes, a scale with marijuana and white powder residue, and a box of plastic baggies commonly used in packaging narcotics.
Pack is expected to appear for a criminal setting in Maries County Circuit Court with Judge Brendon Fox presiding on Jan. 23 at 9 a.m.
