VIENNA — October marked the mailing of 2023 real estate and personal property tax bills. Maries County Collector Jayne Williams shared the billing amounts as well as her office’s collection totals for October.
The total amount billed for 2023 taxes was $7,269,279.42, which is up from the $7,126,084.74 billed last year. The office billed $2,850,881.84 in personal property taxes, $4,418,397.58 in real estate taxes and $1,220,864.29 in railroad and utility charges.
This year, personal property accounts declined from 4,215 to 4,202. Real estate accounts rose from 7,998 to 8,054.
In October, the collector’s office took in $101,260.14 in total revenue. Real estate taxes made up $61,999.80 of the total collection. Of the real estate taxes, $56,181.34 was from this year. The 2022 taxes totaled $3,705.78 and the 2021 taxes totaled $2,112.68.
The collector’s office brought in $39,185.34 in personal property taxes in October. Of the personal property taxes, $28,777.60 was from this year. The 2022 taxes totaled $8,352.58 and the 2021 taxes totaled $2,055.16.
The office also collected $75 for merchant’s licenses.
