Maries County Community journalism going strong

At a time when newspapers across the nation find it hard to keep their doors open, we at The Maries County Advocate are excited to be celebrating our 10th Anniversary.

We started the Advocate with one goal in mind, to serve the residents of Maries County.

In the last 10 years we have never failed to cover stories that were controversial. If the public needs to know, we report it. That is what journalists do.

Community journalism is more than just headlines—it’s the thread that ties a community together. We are proud to tell the stories important to our readers: city council decisions, local school achievements, small business openings, and the milestones of everyday people.

By supporting The Advocate you ensure these stories continue to be told. When you subscribe, advertise or share articles, you’re not just helping us survive—you’re investing in an informed, connected, and engaged community.

Strong local journalism builds accountability, encourages civic participation, and celebrates the unique character of our communities. In an era where news is often nationalized and impersonal, supporting community journalism keeps local voices strong.

To show our appreciation, during the month of October we are offering $10 off a one year subscription to The Advocate. This offer is good for new subscribers, those who want to renew a subscription or anyone who wants to extend a subscription for another year.
