Charlotte Padgett 1947-2025

Charlotte M. Padgett, 78, Belle, passed away Sunday, Nov. 16, 2025, at her residence surrounded by family.

She was born Aug. 18, 1947, to the late Willard “Bob” and Meridith June (Welch) Thornbrough in Los Angeles, Calif.

She was united in marriage to Arthur Wayne Padgett, Sr. Aug. 22, 1964, in Tijuana, Mexico.

Charlotte had been an area resident for over 40 years and had been employed at the Brown Shoe Company in Owensville, Custom Printing in Owensville, and owned and operated the Padgett Upholstery Shop for over 20 years. 

She was baptized Baptist when she was younger, was a strong believer and her faith in God was strong.

Charlotte enjoyed playing video poker and word searches, gardening, canning the bounty she collected and loved a good cup of coffee. She loved cooking for family and friends and her homemade sweets and homemade pickles, or “country crunchers” as she called them, were fantastic. Charlotte always had a hug for everyone and you never left her house hungry.

She enjoyed watching NCIS, SUV and other cop shows as well as Murder She Wrote almost nightly. 

Charlotte was an animal lover who had many pets through the years and raised Basset Hounds for a time.

Above all, she loved the times spent with her grandbabies, great-grandbabies and the rest of her family and will be missed tremendously by them and those who knew and loved her.     

Charlotte was preceded in death by husband Arthur; parents,Willard and Meridith; and siblings, Sally Rowkey, Bill Thornbrough and Beverly Rigoulot.

She is survived by children, Arthur Jr. and wife Jeanette, Stella Mullersman and husband Scott, Maggie Brooks and husband Perri and Adam and wife Alsea, all of Belle; grandchildren, Dalton, Shelby, Ashton, Marcella, Terrack, Josiah and Sally; great-grandchildren, Rowan, Byron and Serinity; brother, Willard Thornbrough and wife Mellisa of  Danville, Ill.; sisters, Jane Brown of Oilton, Okla. and Dianna Thornbrough of Roseberg, Ore.; beloved dog, Kitty; as well as many extended family members and friends.

Visitation will be held from 10 until 12 p.m., Friday, Nov.  21, followed by the funeral services at Sassmann’s Chapel in Belle. Interment will be in the Skaggs Chapel Cemetery.
