BMS Track ends March at Vienna Middle School Open

VIENNA — Bland Middle School’s Bear and Lady Bear track squads ended the March portion of their season last Tuesday afternoon in western Maries County during the Vienna Middle School Open held on Vienna High School’s track.

No team scores were kept but Bland’s Bears and Lady Bears came away from Vienna winning six events.

Bland’s first win came in the girls 4x800-meter relay with a winning time of 13:07.00 by the Lady Bear foursome of Skylar Stevens, Marianne Francis, Cora Langston and Gracie Jarvis.

Stevens also won the girls 1600m run in a time of 7:02.19 followed by Lady Bear teammates Jarvis (4th, 7:22.26) and Langston (5th, 8:07.61).

Alden Zabel was the next winner for BMS claiming the boys 100m hurdles in a winning time of 17.07.

Jackson Prater followed by winning both the boys 800m and 1600m runs in times of 2:18.95 and 5:03.12 respectively.

Bland’s final event win came at the end of the meet with a first-place time of 4:24.87 by the Bear 4x400m relay team of Michael Felton, Owen Dobson, Liam Smith and Prater.

Sprinting down the track for the Bears in the boys 100m dash were Weston Sadler (3rd, 12.25), Dakota Stockton (6th, 12.73), Smith (9th, 13.10), Dobson (16th, 13.66), Ryder Huebner (24th, 14.72), Liam Bialczyk (29th, 15.54) and Braxton Elrod (32nd, 15.93).

Zabel also placed 10th for Bland in the boys 200m dash with a time of 29.46.

Jaseton Rodgers posted a third-place time of 1:07.63 for the Bears in the 400m dash while Felton (4th, 2:23.78) and Treyton Huebner (13th, 3:09.23) followed Prater for Bland in the boys 800m run.

Sprinting to a second-place 52.69 in the boys 4x100 relay was the Bear foursome of Zabel, Sadler, Stockton and Smith.

Also placing second in the boys 4x200m relay for Bland in 1:50.09 was the Bear quartet of Chase Sellers, Sadler, Zabel and Stockton.

Taking fifth in 12:03.00 for Bland in the boys 4x800m relay was the team of Ryker Huebner, Garit Trainer, Tharon Kent and Bialczyk.

Karsen Ridenhour (6th, 8.95m), Elliott Smith (8.12m), Hunter Boyer (10th, 7.75m), Spurling Hendrix (14th, 6.64m) and Ciris Burrows (20th, 5.54m) competed in the boys shot put for Bland’s Bears.

Felton tied for fifth in the boys high jump for Bland clearing 1.42m while Stockton took second place in the boys long jump with a leap of 4.69m for the Bears.

Sadler (2nd, 9.76m) and Dobson (5th, 8.26m) placed in the top five of the boys triple jump for Bland.

Kali Mayfield (10th, 14.71), Shae Buechter (18th, 15.58) and Sedora Carroll (19th, 15.71) sprinted down the track at Vienna for Bland’s Lady Bears in the girls 100m dash.

Faith Gromowski (6th, 32.63) and McKenna Norris (20th, 36.75) took on the girls 200m dash for Bland.

Stevens (3rd, 3:07.00), Francis (4th, 3:17.92) and Jarvis (5th, 3:21.87) rounded out the top five of the girls 800m run for the Lady Bears.

Sprinting to a third-place time of 1:02.71 in the girls 4x100m relay for Bland was the Lady Bear foursome of Mayfield, Norris, Gromowski and Buechter.

Mayfield (7th, 7.93m), Emilyn Lewis (11th, 7.43m), Lucie Scott (16th, 6.20m) and Harlie Gingerich (26th, 5.00m) threw for the Lady Bears in the girls shot put.

Lewis posted a third-place mark of 18.41m in the girls discus for Bland.

Bland’s Bears and Lady Bears are scheduled to return to Vienna tomorrow (Thursday) for the Vienna Middle School (VMS) Black and Gold Invitational Track Meet.
