Throughout the next month, volleyballs will be flying at Bland Middle School (BMS) during the upcoming season of Lady Bear volleyball which begins this week.
Hosting Steelville’s Lady Cardinals last night (Tuesday) in their home and season opener, BMS volleyball will make the short trip east on Highway 28 into Owensville with Highway 28 bragging rights on the line at Owensville Elementary School (OES) with matches starting at 5:30 p.m.
Bland’s ‘A’ team will then open the tournament portion of their season on Saturday, Feb. 28 at the Bourbon Middle School ‘A’ Team Volleyball Tournament.
It will be a four-team round-robin format with the host Lady Warhawks, Sullivan Lady Eagles, Cuba Lady Wildcats and Lady Bears competing.
Matches will begin at 8:30 a.m., with Bland facing the host Lady Warhawks followed at approximately 9:15 a.m., with Cuba taking on the Lady Bears.
Round-robin play will continue at 10:00 a.m., with Sullivan facing Cuba in an Interstate 44 showdown followed at 10:45 a.m., by a Crawford County match up between Bourbon and Sullivan.
Morning volleyball action will be capped at 11:30 a.m., with Cuba matched up against Bourbon in another Crawford County showdown.
Bland will face Sullivan at 12:15 p.m., before the championship match at 1 p.m., between the two teams with the best records.
