BLAND — The Bland Police Department arrested Brian Keith Longsdon of Franklin County in connection with a domestic incident reported in the 300 block of West Missouri Avenue in the city of Bland.
According to a probable cause affidavit filed in the 20th Judicial Circuit Court in Gasconade County by Bland Police Chief Charles Holtz, officers responded to a reported domestic disturbance at approximately 11:30 p.m. on Jan. 7 in the city of Bland. The reporting party told law enforcement that Longsdon, with whom she was in a romantic relationship, struck her one time with an open hand on the right side of her face while inside her residence.
The report said, “The strike caused immediate pain, swelling and bruising, knocked her eyeglasses from her head, and resulted in a laceration to the inside of her mouth. She later sought medical treatment, and law enforcement noted the injuries and medical records were consistent with her statements.”
According to the affidavit, Longsdon sent repeated threatening text messages indicating he would come to the residence and strike her before the alleged assault. The messages reportedly continued after he was told to stop. Investigators reported that Longsdon arrived at the residence uninvited and did not live there. After being instructed to leave following the alleged assault, he refused and remained inside the residence for a period of time before eventually departing.
Longsdon’s presence in Bland at the time of the incident was corroborated by a traffic stop conducted by the Gasconade County Sheriff’s Office, during which he reportedly said he was leaving his girlfriend’s residence, according to court records.
As a result of the investigation, Longsdon was located and arrested. A warrant was issued Jan. 12 by Gasconade County Circuit Court Judge Ada Brehe-Krueger charging him with domestic assault in the third degree, harassment in the first degree, and trespassing in the first degree. Bond was set at $5,000 cash or surety and Longsdon was given Jan. 14 for arraignment. He is currently being held in the Gasconade County Jail.
The affidavit notes that a review of Longsdon’s criminal history revealed prior arrests and convictions involving assault-related offenses, driving while intoxicated, resisting arrest and drug-related violations. His most recent conviction occurred Sept. 16, 2020, in Franklin County for possession of drug paraphernalia.
According to a Facebook post by the Bland Police Department the investigation remains ongoing.
