Competing on back-to-back days early last week, Belle High School (BHS) track and field athletes took a pair of short road trips to Linn last Monday and Vienna last Tuesday.
During the Vienna Black and Gold Invitational at Vienna High School (VHS), Belle’s Tigers placed third in the team standings with 89 points behind Dixon (151) and Vienna (132) while the Lady Tigers took fourth as a team with 72 points behind Iberia (125), Vienna (110), and Plato (77).
Malachi Fredendall scored the lone event win for the Tigers in Vienna topping the boys 400-meter dash field with a first-place time of 52.78.
Connor Weigel (6th, 59.56) and Connor LeRoux (7th, 1:00.28) also scored team points for Belle.
Skylar Perkins sprinted his way to a pair of team points for Belle with a seventh-place time of 12.25 in the boys 100m dash while Timothy Schmid (9th, 12.31) and Brice Robertson (15th, 12.53) also ran for the Tigers.
Weigel (5th, 26.21) and Perkins (6th, 26.39) also scored team points for Belle in the boys 200, dash while Cason Taylor posted a 15th-place time of 28.03.
Adding to his win in the 400m dash, Fredendall posted a third-place time of 2:14.29 in the boys 800m run while David Skaggs also earned a Tiger team point with an eighth-place time of 2:26.33.
Coltin Hazelwood led three Tigers in the boys 1600m run with a sixth-place time of 5:27.65.
He was followed by Skaggs (7th, 5:30.77) and Miles Frey (11th, 5:37.51).
Hazelwood (3rd, 12:02.26) and Miles Frey (8th, 12:42.50) also scored team points for Belle in the boys 3200m run.
Trevor Frey posted a pair of eighth-place finishes in the boys 110m and 300m hurdles in times of 21.80 and 54.31 respectively.
Isaiah Spurgeon also placed 10th in both events with a 110m hurdle time of 22.81 and a 300m hurdle time of 56.52.
Sprinting to a fourth-place time of 50.64 in the boys 4x100m relay for the Tigers was the foursome of Braxton Ahart, Kaegan Kinsey, Schmid and Perkins.
Taking second in the boys 4x200m for Belle in a time of 1:44.20 was the team of Ahart, Taylor, LeRoux and Perkins.
Placing second with a time of 9:11.98 in the boys 4x800m relay was the Tiger quartet of Hazelwood, Skaggs, Fredendall and Miles Frey.
Ending the meet on the track with a third-place time of 4:00.70 in the boys 4x400m relay was the Belle quartet of Skaggs, Fredendall, Weigel and LeRoux.
Robertson threw his way to team points with a fifth-place mark of 11.13m in the boys shot put while Brayden Gibson posted a fourth-place throw of 34.27m in the boys discus for Belle.
Following Gibson in the boys discus for Belle were Weston Doss (18th, 23.92) and Brayden Barzee (22nd, 18.52m).
Robertson (4th, 1.68m) and Kinsey (7th, 1.63m) scored team points for the Tigers in the boys high jump.
Eric Mallard’s best mark of the day for Belle came in the boys long jump with a 24th-place leap of 3.73m.
Taylor (10th, 9.66m) and Landon Storz (12th, 8.52m) competed for the Tigers in the boys triple jump at Vienna.
Ending the meet with the lone win on the track for the Lady Tigers was the girls 4x400m relay team of Kenadie Bailey, Zoe Camden, Ellie Gray and Natalie Lansford with a first-place time of 4:47.66.
Lansford (7th, 14.46) and Avaya Kitchen (9th, 14.50) sprinted down the track for Belle in the girls 100m dash.
Camden also added Lady Tiger team points in the girls 200m dash with a fourth-place time of 28.40.
Lansford picked up more team points placing fourth in the girls 400m dash in a time of 1:13.33 for Belle.
Sprinting to a second-place time of 57.96 in the girls 4x100m relay for the Lady Tigers was the foursome of Aubrey Rehmert, Kitchen, Lansford and Gray.
Also taking second in the girls 4x200m relay for Belle with a time of 2:00.61 was the foursome of Kitchen, Camden, Gray and Rehmert.
Taking third place in a time of 13:15.57 in the girls 4x800m relay for Belle was the team of Ellanor Kent, Saylor Kent, Allania Moore and Bailey.
Rehmert secured the lone field event win for Belle with a first-place throw of 39.08m in the girls javelin.
Chloe Jones (5th, 23.87m), Kennady Kinkead (11th, 20.34m) and Hayden Fann (14th, 18.25m) threw for Belle in the girls discus.
Along with Rehmert winning the girls javelin, Kaylee Hazelwood also earned two team points for the Lady Tigers with a seventh-place throw of 26.82m.
Making the short trek north on Highway 89 to Linn last Monday for their high school invitational track meet, Rehmert also won the girls javelin with a throw of 37.27m while Fredendall also posted a third-place time of 53.92 in the boys 400m dash good for a medal.
Collecting the lone set of medals for BHS relay teams, Belle’s boys 4x800m relay team of Fredendall, Miles Frey, Hazelwood and Skaggs posted a third-place time of 9:07.79.
BHS Track and Field will return to action tomorrow during the Cuba Invitational at Cuba High School’s Wildcat Field of Pride giving them a preview of the upcoming Gasconade Valley Conference (GVC) track meet on Saturday, May 2 also hosted by Cuba.
