Competing against 10 other schools last Thursday in the Cuba Invitational Track Meet at Cuba High School’s Wildcat Field of Pride, Jacob Walton’s Belle Tigers placed fifth in the boys team standings with 67 points behind Steelville (118), St. James (91), New Haven (71) and Cuba (71).
Scoring team points in 14 events, the Tigers were led on the track by Malachi Fredendall who posted a second-place time of 52.91 in the boys 400-meter dash while teammate Connor LeRoux also earned a Belle team point with his eighth-place time of 59.77.
David Skaggs left Cuba with silver for the Tigers following his second-place time of 2:16.06 in the boys 800m run while Miles Frey (5th, 2:17.92) and Coltin Hazelwood (6th, 2:22.34) also earned Belle team points in the event.
Adding to his sixth-place finish in the boys 800m run, Hazelwood also posted a fourth-place time of 5:16.36 in the boys 1600m run for the Tigers.
Isaiah Spurgeon (22.54) and Trevor Frey (52.50) both posted eighth-place times in the boys 110m hurdles and 300m hurdles respectively for Belle.
Sprinting to two teams points thanks to a seventh-place time of 53.16 in the boys 4x100m relay was the Tiger quartet of Landon Storz, Cason Taylor, Timothy Schmid and Trevor Frey.
Belle also placed second in the boys 4x100m throwers relay with a time of 55.25 from the team of Brayden Barzee, Brayden Gibson, Weston Doss and Brice Robertson.
That event was not figured in the team standings.
Earning five team points in the boys 4x200m relay with a fourth-place time of 1:45.19 was the Tiger quartet of Braxton Ahart, Skyler Perkins, Robertson and LeRoux.
Claiming second place in the boys 4x400m relay in a time of 3:44.60 was the Belle foursome of Connor Weigel, Miles Frey, Fredendall and Skaggs.
Collecting more silver in the boys 4x800m with a second-place time of 9:01.15 was the Tiger squad of Miles Frey, Hazelwood, Fredendall and Skaggs.
Barzee picked up team points in both throwing events with a second-place mark of 35.59m in the boys discus and a sixth-place toss of 11.68m in the boys shot put.
Adding to his top-six marks in the shot put and discus, Barzee also earned five more Tiger team points with his fourth-place heave of 36.52m in the boys javelin.
Robertson (3rd, 1.75m) and Kaegan Kinsey (5th, 1.70m) picked up Tiger team points for Belle in the boys high jump.
Eric Mallard also sprinted down the track for the Tigers in the boys 100m dash in a 26th-place time of 14.13.
Placing seventh with 38 team points, Belle’s Lady Tigers were led by senior Aubrey Rehmert and her latest victory in the girls javelin with a winning throw of 36.72m.
All four Lady Tiger relay teams also posted top-eight times to contribute to Belle’s team point total.
Sprinting to a fifth-place time of 57.47 in the girls 4x100m relay was the Lady Tiger quartet of Avaya Kitchen, Natalie Lansford, Chloe Jones and Rehmert.
Taking fourth in the girls 4x200m relay for Belle in a fourth-place time of 2:03.07 was the Lady Tiger foursome of Zoe Camden, Ellie Gray, Jones and Rehmert.
Ending the meet with a third-place time of 4:43.46 in the girls 4x400m relay for Belle was the team of Kitchen, Lansford, Gray and Camden.
Staring the meet on the track with a fourth-place time of 12:51.28 in the girls 4x800m relay for the Lady Tigers was the team of Ellanor Kent, Allania Moore, Saylor Kent and Kenadie Bailey.
Also taking third in the girls 4x100m throwers relay for Belle in a time of 1:07.33 was the squad of Kaylee Hazelwood, Kennady Kinkead, Hayden Fann and Moore.
Gray earned a Lady Tiger team point with her eighth-place time of 32.67 in the girls 200m dash.
Ellanor (2nd, 14:00.15) and Saylor Kent (4th, 17:30.83) made up half of the top four for the Lady Tigers in the girls 3200m run at Cuba.
Jones added a seventh-place throw of 8.53m in the girls shot put for the Lady Tigers while Hazelwood also placed seven in the girls javelin with a throw of 25.43m.
Competing Monday night at Montgomery County, Belle will return to action later this week at Waynesville on Friday, April 24.
