Belle court issues monthly summary report

BELLE — Belle Municipal Court has submitted its Municipal Division Summary Report for the period of Sept. 30 through Nov. 3 to the mayor and board of aldermen. Court Clerk Lydia Devine provided the report as required under Missouri Supreme Court Rule, which mandates that municipal courts file their monthly summaries with the mayor and council within ten days of the close of each reporting month.

According to the report, the court began the period with 153 pending cases, including 105 traffic violations and 48 non-traffic ordinance matters. During the reporting period the court received 28 new filings, with 25 involving traffic violations and three involving ordinance violations. The court closed 27 cases, disposing of 22 traffic matters and five ordinance matters. Three ordinance charges were dismissed by the court. No jury trials, bench trials, bond forfeitures, or certifications to circuit court occurred, and no appeals or trial de novo filings were made. By the end of the reporting period Belle Municipal Court reported 154 pending cases, with 108 traffic and 46 ordinance matters still open.

The court also reported 13 warrants issued between Sept. 30 and Nov. 3. Eleven warrants were served or withdrawn. A total of 67 warrants remained outstanding at the close of the reporting period.

Financial information included in the summary shows the court collected $2,447.67 in excess revenue, which is subject to state limitations on revenue derived from minor traffic and ordinance violations. This amount included $2,216 in fines, $224.73 in clerk fees, and $6.94 directed to the Crime Victims Compensation Fund. The court also reported $180.08 in court automation fees under its other disbursements category. Additional revenue not subject to the excess revenue rules totaled $1,407.75. That amount included $1,066 in fines, $84 in clerk fees, $25.73 for the POST Commission surcharge, $183.43 in Crime Victims Compensation funds paid to the state, $2.59 in Crime Victims Compensation funds paid to other entities, and $46 for the Law Enforcement Training Fund. No restitution, parking revenue, domestic violence shelter surcharges, or inmate security surcharges were reported.

According to the report the court processed a total of $4,035.50 in disbursements for fees, costs, surcharges, and bond forfeitures during the reporting period.

The next scheduled court date for Belle is 6:30 p.m. on Dec. 16 at the Belle-Bland Community Center.
