Women abandoned

I am woman hear me roar in numbers too big to ignore. I remember when Hellen Reddy’s song “I am woman” soared to number one on the Billboard Hot 100 in 1972.

That song became an anthem for feminism in the 70s and made Reddy an international star. I was just 13 years old and had no idea what feminism was.

In 2011, Billboard named her the number-28 adult contemporary artist of all time (the number-9 woman). In 2013, the Chicago Tribune dubbed her the “Queen of ‘70s Pop.”

Sadly, Reddy passed away at the young age of 78 in September 2020. She was a Democrat. I wonder if she is rolling over in her grave?

Women are roaring today and the Democrat party ignores them — specifically in sports. President Joe Biden brought this to the forefront when he issued an executive order, the first day of his administration, saying student-athletes should compete under the sex they identify with. This allows transgender women — biological males who identify as women — to compete with women.

Abigail was the only one of our three children active in sports. The sport she excelled in was competitive acrobatic gymnastics. She competed as part of a women’s pair and a women’s trio in national and international competitions. Men also compete in this sport. Abby never competed against males. A man’s strength gives him an unfair advantage.

For example, gold medalist Jackie Joyner-Kersee ran the 800-meter competition at the 1992 Barcelona Olympics in 2”11.78. If she were a man, she wouldn’t have even placed in the top 100 among high schoolers in Florida.

Two weeks ago, Lia Thomas became the first transgender athlete to win an NCAA championship. Two years ago, Thomas competed in swimming as a biological male, so we have records to compare.

In 2018-19 Thomas was ranked 65th in the country in the 500-yd freestyle. Now, she has the fastest swim time in the nation as a woman in that category. Thomas’ best time in the 100 freestyle division as a man was 47.15. At the NCAA Championships, she posted a time of 47.37.

Protests concerning Thomas’ victory include Save Women’s Sports and Women for America. Last week Concerned Women for America revealed they are filing a Title IX complaint against the University of Pennsylvania for “violating Title IX by allowing Thomas to compete on the women’s team,” according to ESPN.

The Democrat party is ignoring these objections from women.

One activist with the group Save Women’s Sports told Fox News Digital, “I was historically liberal. I would say I’m politically homeless now because I don’t think the Democrats care about women and girls.”

Perhaps the most famous transgender woman in the world is Caitlyn Jenner — born William Bruce Jenner. Jenner was an Olympic gold medalist in the 1976 decathlon. Winning 12 of 13 decathlons he competed in, Jenner at one time held the unofficial title of “world’s greatest athlete.”

Jenner said, “In Lia Thomas’s case, I don’t care about her testosterone levels now, for the last year or two. Honestly, I care about her testosterone levels for the first 16, 17 years of her life. That’s what we are fighting against here.”

Jenner has declined invitations to join an all-women’s golf tournament because of the biological advantage she holds over other competitors.

Thirty states have filed laws to ban transgender girls from competing against biological girls in sports to combat this injustice.

Of course, anyone who feels transgender girls should not be allowed to compete with women in sports must be transphobic and full of hate. Does Caitlyn Jenner hate herself, or does she just hate other men who identify as women?

If this is allowed to continue, transgender athletes — and the Democrat party — will ruin girls’ sports.

It has come to the point that Democrats cannot define the meaning of woman. This was on demonstrated last week when Supreme Court nominee Ketanji Brown Jackson (who was nominated partially based on her sex) refused to define woman.

Let me help. According to the Merriam-Webster online dictionary, a woman is an adult female person. A female being the sex that has the capacity to bear young or produce eggs. Biologically speaking, females have XX chromosomes.

Helen Reddy was a woman.
