Four years in Sedalia.
2024 Vienna High School graduate Duncan Wilkinson has that to look forward to after signing a letter of intent to continue his academic and athletic pursuits as a member of the State Fair Community College Cross Country and Track teams in Sedalia.
In cross country, Wilkinson helped lead his Eagle teammates to a Gasconade Valley Conference (GVC) title last fall in their final season as a member of the GVC.
Vienna will be making the move to the newly formed Show-Me Central Conference beginning with the upcoming 2024-25 school year.
Qualifying for the Missouri State High School Activities Association (MSHSAA) Cross Country Championships throughout all four years of high school, Wilkinson earned All-State honors on two occasions.
Capping his senior season, Wilkinson posted a 13th-place time of 17:29.6 during the Class 1 Boys race at the 2024 MSHSAA Cross Country Championships held on the Gans Creek Cross Country Course in Columbia.
One week earlier during the MSHSAA Class 1, District 3 Boys race, Wilkinson punched his fourth and final ticket to state with a fifth-place time of 18:46.70.
During his final aforementioned GVC meet, Wilkinson earned All-GVC honors for the third time in his high school career following a third-place time of 18:32.08.
Defending his home course with a winning time of 18:51.13 at the Vienna Autumn Classic back in mid-October, Wilkinson also posted two more third-place finishes during his senior year at Calvary Lutheran and in Vienna right after Labor Day.
Wilkinson also placed fourth at Belle and sixth at Steelville giving him seven top-10 finishes during his senior season of cross country.
Ending his junior season also at state, Wilkinson posted a 14th-place time of 17:46.0 giving him All-State honors.
He earned his way to state with a third-place time of 18:03.89 during the MSHSAA Class 1, District 3 boys race.
Wilkinson also posted another third-place finish at the GVC meet held in Cuba with a time of 18:35.40.
His best finish as a junior came at the Dixon Invitational with a second-place time of 18:41.28.
After his third-place finishes at the conference and district meets, Wilkinson posted fourth-place times of 18:20.98 during the Vienna Autumn Classic and 19:07.00 at Calvary Lutheran.
As a sophomore, Wilkinson’s best finish came in the GVC meet at Steelville with a third-place time of 18:40.20.
In addition to a fourth-place time of 18:55.96 at Dixon, he also placed fifth at Calvary Lutheran (20:17.80) and at the Vienna Autumn Classic (19:08.43).
Placing 11th at districts in 18:54.13 punching his third ticket to state, Wilkinson ended his sophomore season with a 34th-place time of 18:10.7.
Qualifying for state as a freshman with a 12th-place time of 20:15.3 at districts in Linn, Wilkinson posted a 95th-place time of 19:47.0 in his first Class 1 Boys state race at Gans Creek.
In track and field, Wilkinson won the 400-meter dash three times as a senior while also winning the 800m run twice.
Ending his Eagle track and field career at state, Wilkinson placed 12th in 2:03.86 during the Class 2 Boys 800m run after punching his ticket to state with a fourth-place time of 2:07.65 during sectionals at South Callaway.
Wilkinson also earned All-GVC honors in the 800m run with a second-place time of 2:19.05.
Also at the GVC track meet in Cuba, Wilkinson earned All-GVC honors by finishing second as part of the Eagle 4x400m and 4x800m relays.
In his junior season of track, Wilkinson also qualified for state in the Class 1 Boys 800m run placing 16th in 2:09.46.
He also won a district title in the boys 800m run with a time of 2:12.13.
Wilkinson’s highlight of his VHS Track career came as a freshman when he teamed up with Caleb Horman, Jehoshua Casey and Wyatt Coons to earn All-State honors placing seventh in the Class 1 Boys 4x800m relay with a time of 8:53.56.
