Walter H. Dickens, 94, of Rolla, formerly of Dixon, passed away Saturday, Jan. 7, 2023.
He was born on May 7, 1928, to Earl and Mary (Wyss) Dickens in Dixon.
He was united in marriage to Betty Ruth Bullock, Sept. 15, 1951.
Walter graduated from Rolla School of Mines with an Engineering degree. He worked at Fort Leonard Wood.
Walter was the oldest member of the American Legion Post 298 in Dixon. Walter was a founding member of the Khoury League, Caring Center, and the Dixon Community Scholarship Fund.
He was preceded in death by parents, Earl and Mary; brothers Harold Dickens and infant Earl Dickens; sisters Mary Hollis and infant Betty Dickens; and grandson Stephen Scott Dickens.
He is survived by wife, Betty of Rolla; son Dean Dickens and wife Ann of Nixa; daughter Susan Martin and husband Gary of Dixon; and four grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be Wednesday (today), Jan. 11, 2023, from 11 a.m.–12 p.m. at the Santee Community Church in Dixon, with funeral services following. Interment will follow in the Dixon Cemetery.
