For Cory Nicholson’s Vienna Eagle fall baseball team, their goal was to play on both days of their own tournament over the weekend.

Losses to Linn (13-2) and Stoutland (8-5) prevented that from happening.

Starting the tournament off Friday afternoon, Vienna faced off against Linn’s Wildcats.

Tied at 2-2 going to the bottom of the third inning, Linn scored 11 unanswered runs to hand the host Eagles a 13-2 loss in six innings.

Eli Hayes led Vienna with two hits and a run scored against Linn while Will Veasman recorded the lone RBI.

Bayrd Vanscoy also had a hit and a run scored in addition to taking the loss pitching four and a third innings allowing eight runs on eight hits and two walks to go with five strikeouts.

In their second game Friday against Stoutland, Vienna stayed within striking distance but could not get a lead before falling 8-5 to the visiting Tigers.

Landon Kloeppel had a team-high three RBIs for the Eagles.

Vanscoy also had two hits, two runs scored and a RBI.

Lucas Magner also crossed the plate twice in addition to getting a hit for the Eagles who were eliminated Friday night.
