The Maries County Fair Association is planning a fun event to bring out people to the fair grounds in Vienna for an afternoon of food, drink and fun.

The Vienna Sausage and Wine Festival is set for Saturday, April 30 beginning at 1 p.m. when sign-up opens for the Sausage Cook-off and the Cornhole Tournament. The cook-off and tournament both begin at 2 p.m.

The Cornhole Tournament will be put on by Mid-MO Cornhole. It’s $50 for a team to enter, which is $10 event cover per person plus a $30 entry fee. The payout, based on participation of at least 50 teams, is $500 for first place, $300 for second place, and $200 for third place. Second and third place payouts are prorated for anything less than 50 teams.

There is a wine-tasting event at 3 p.m. It is a workshop provided by the Missouri Wine & Grape Board, called Wine Tasting 101. The workshop will feature five Missouri wines ranging from dry to sweet and participants will learn the five “S’s” of wine tasting as they same some local favorites. The $25 ticket includes entry into the festival, participation in the workshop and a souvenir cup hat will allow the participant to continue to sample from wine vendors before and after the workshop.

The cook-off sausages will be judged at 4 p.m. The finale of the day is the crowning of the Sausage King or Queen at 5 p.m.
