Vienna Police Chief Shannon Thompson recently reported on police department activities during May 2021.
Some 73 traffic stops were conducted, two alarm calls were answered, there were seven responses to disturbance calls, officers investigated six suspicious person/vehicles, and investigated two theft complaints.
Officers made one misdemeanor arrest, conducted 15 school safety patrols/events, conducted 102 business checks, investigated one animal complaint, and investigated one nuisance complaint.
Vienna PD officers responded to 20 other calls for service which included traffic control for funerals, fire and EMS, medical assists, and well being checks.
Officers investigated traffic complaints, reported gunshots, an impaired driver, trespassing complaint, responded to a car fire, assisted another county with a possible theft of a motorcycle, assisted the Maries County Sheriff’s Office in locating passengers in a boating accident, searched for driver from hit and run accident, audited malfunctioning street lights, and recovered suspected controlled substances and paraphernalia found in a parking lot.
Chief Thompson reported Vienna PD officers also responded outside of the city limits to assist the Maries County Sheriff’s Office by responding to a domestic dispute along the roadway, subject with warrants hiding in a barn, and removed cattle from the roadway.
