Vienna man killed in two-vehicle crash

A man from Vienna died from injuries sustained in a two-vehicle crash on Highway 133 in Maries County last Friday.

According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol report, the crash occurred at 5:40 a.m. about 8 miles south of Meta when a southbound 2005 Ford Focus driven by a 19-year-old man from Vienna crossed the centerline and collided with a northbound 2023 Jeep Cherokee driven by a 34-year-old woman from Vienna.

Maries County Deputy Coroner Amanda Sandbothe pronounced the man deceased at the scene at 6:59 a.m. His body was taken to Birmingham-Martin Funeral Home in Vienna. An obituary identified him as Deekin Wagner.

The Cherokee driver sustained serious injuries. An ambulance transported her to St. Mary’s Hospital in Jefferson City.

The fatality is Troop I’s second for the year and the first in Maries County. Tpr. C.L. Park and MCIU Msgt. P.W. Meyers investigated the crash with assistance from Msgt. K.D. Rapier, Cpl. G.N. Wensel, Cpl. B.N. Crawford and Tpr. E.A. Ferrel.
