A Vienna man has been charged in Maries County with felony unlawful use of a weapon, exhibiting, following an altercation in late November in a parking lot inside the Vienna city limits.

Trevor Smith, 26, Vienna, has been charged with the class E felony.

The Vienna Police Department reported it investigated a disturbance on Nov. 17. During the investigation the police learned that a verbal altercation had taken place earlier that evening between three males. Smith, who was later determined by the police to be the primary aggressor, displayed a handgun during the heated verbal exchange. The Vienna PD said Smith did not point the gun at anyone, but displayed it.

The police department responded to 406 N. Coffey Street where a .380 caliber handgun was seized pending further investigation and locating witnesses and gathering more information. When the investigation was concluded, a probable cause statement was forwarded to the Maries County Prosecuting Attorney’s office, which resulted in the felony charge.
