State Representative Bennie Cook, State Representative Bruce Sassmann and members of the Missouri House of Representatives played host to nearly 300 members of the state FFA organization from all across Missouri to celebrate National FFA Week at the state Capitol. State Rep. Bennie Cook & State Rep. Bennie Cook were on hand as the House welcomed the group of young people, including members of the Vienna FFA chapter, who are part of the national organization that promotes agricultural education to its more than 500,000 members, including nearly 26,000 in Missouri. Governor Mike Parson proclaimed Feb. 19th through the 26th to be National FFA Week in Missouri on Wednesday, and as members of the organization stood in attendance, Governor Mike Parson and Lt. Gov. Mike Kehoe celebrated by driving tractors to the Missouri State Capitol. “FFA has had such a positive impact on so many young people in our state by teaching them the value of hard work and instilling in them the importance of carrying on the proud tradition of agriculture,” said Cook, R-Houston. “It was great to see so many FFA Chapters at the Missouri State Capitol, and I thoroughly enjoyed the opportunity I had to meet with these impressive young adults who will certainly be some of our state’s leaders in the years to come.” The FFA organization was founded by a group of young farmers who met in Kansas City in 1928. Today, FFA makes a positive difference in the lives of students by developing their potential for premier leadership, personal growth and career success.
