Defeating Richland on the road in their season opener back three days earlier, Chandler Harker’s Vienna Eagles opened the home portion of their schedule last Monday night against California’s Pintos.
Nearly doubling up CHS 16-9 after one quarter, Vienna pushed their lead into double digits at halftime 31-20 before going on to defeat the Pintos for their second win of the season, 52-33.
Adding to his 32-point effort in the season opener against Richland, Nathan Kleffner led Vienna against California with a game-high 17 points.
Trey Snodgrass just missed double figures with nine points followed closely with seven points each from Max Steffen and Janis Hubert.
Alijah Mercer chipped in five points while Spencer Magner scored all four of his points in the second quarter.
Lucas Magner rounded out the scoring for Vienna with a first-quarter 3-pointer for three points.
Trevor Myers led California with a team-high 14 points.
Both the Vienna Eagles and Lady Eagles will be competing this week in Tipton with coverage from both tournaments in next week’s Advocate.
