VIENNA — Several members of the Maries R-1 School family came together last Thursday after school to help the Vienna Early Learning Center (VELC) Preschool make the treats for its annual fundraiser.
VELC Director, Ellie Glick, said it was one of their best fundraisers as they sold 559 boxes of chocolate covered strawberries. This provided a nice profit of $1,300 to be used to benefit the Maries R-1 School District’s preschool.
Those who showed up to help dip the strawberries and package them for their clients were high school and middle school students, parents, staff members and even their extended family members. Some of the Vienna High School seniors who had just returned from their senior trip also helped.
Glick said they plan to use the proceeds of the fundraiser to help do a classroom makeover for the VELC’s preschool classrooms. They want to create a more welcoming and relaxing learning environment for the preschoolers to enjoy.
She expressed her appreciation for all of the help and for all those who purchased their chocolate covered strawberries — many of them bought for Mother’s Day.
“This was the most we have ever sold and we are so thankful for the support we have received for our program,” Glick said.
