Back on the links after an 11-day layoff, Johnny Viehland’s Belle Tiger golf team made the short trip into Crawford County last Tuesday afternoon for the Cuba Lakes Classic.
Gage Vandegriffe led the way for the red and black with a team-low round of 42 over nine holes tying him for fifth place individually with Cuba’s Cooper Mehl and Fatima’s Ty Brandt.
Avery Craigmiles and Kelhen Struemph both carded nine-hole rounds of 44 finishing tied for 10th place along with Fatima’s Xavier Stuecken and Owensville’s Koen Brooks.
Kaegan Kinsey fired a nine-hole round of 45 to finish tied for 14th place with Owensville’s Noah Caldwell and Keigan Glaser.
Callen Taylor rounded out Belle’s contingency of varsity Tigers with a nine-hole round of 51 tying him for 22nd place with Cuba’s Cole Kelemen and Steelville’s Wesley Keymann.
Firing a team score of 175, Belle placed second in the team standings to Fatima (166) and ahead of Owensville (177), Cuba (189), Steelville (201), Licking (203) and Newburg (10th).
