Three separate accidents in the local area or involving local people have left five injured since last Wednesday. All were investigated by troopers with Troop C of the Missouri State Highway Patrol (MSHP).

The first occurred at 7:48 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 6, at Red Oak and Grob roads. A 17-year-old female juvenile was driving a 2006 Ford Escape southbound. The report from Tpr. C. P. Brown states the driver lost control and crossed over the center line, then over corrected and went of the right side of the roadway and overturned. 

Both the driver and the 14-year-old male occupant are from St. Clair. Both were using seat belts but suffered moderate injuries. They were transported to Mercy Washington by private conveyance. 

The vehicle was totalled and was towed from the scene by private conveyance. 

At 5:16 p.m. that same day, Anthony Weirich, 26, of Gerald was driving westbound on Missouri 30 at Route N. A 2008 Ford Escape driven by Gregory S. Hertweck, 52, of Robertsville was traveling eastbound when he made a left turn in front of Weirich. The front of the Escape struck the front of the 2018 Dodge Ram 2500 Weirich was driving. The Escape then rotated counter-clockwise and struck the front of a 2017 Kiz Forte driven by Leah L. Obermark, 52 of St. Clair who had been traveling east. 

Hertweck had minor injuries and his passenger, Mary A. Canaday, 44, of Robertsville was moderately injured. Both were taken to Mercy Washington by St. Clair ambulance. 

According to the report filed by Cpl. W. M. Hedlund, Weirich and Obermark were not injured. All involved were using seat belts. 

The Forte had minor damage and was driven from the scene. The Ram had moderate damage and the Escape was totalled. Both were towed. 

On Sunday, Oct. 9, at 10:02 p.m. emergency crews were called to an accident with entrapment at 3957 Shotwell Road. Tpr. B. C. Bridges filed a report on the crash. 

Nichole E. Wright, 19, of Owensville had been traveling eastbound when she failed to negotiate a right hand curve. The 2001 Kia Sportage she was driving crossed the center of the road, traveled off the left side of the roadway and continued traveling in the ditch. The vehicle then crossed a private driveway, went airborne, returned to the ground and continued traveling east in the ditch. The vehicle then began to rotate clockwise and returned to the roadway and skied across the pavement and continued to overturn striking a barbed-wire fence and a tree. 

Wright suffered serious injuries and was airlifted to Mercy St. Louis by Arch helicopter. She had been using a seat belt. 

The Kia was totalled and towed by a private entity.
