Now into the month of March, postseason basketball honors will begin rolling in.
Vienna High School’s basketball duo of Cash Stricklan and Aubrey Schwartze were named to their respective Missouri Basketball Coaches Association (MBCA) All-District Basketball Teams that were released Monday following the conclusion of the Missouri State High School Activities Association (MSHSAA) Show-Me Showdown for Classes 1-3.
Helping Vienna to an overall record of 12-13, Schwartze led the Lady Eagles averaging 15 points and nine rebounds per game.
Racking up nine double doubles on the season, Schwartze scored a game-high 28 points against Dixon while also pulling down 10 rebounds against the Lady Bulldogs.
Her best game on the glass came against the host Lady Eagles at the Eugene Tournament with 14 rebounds in addition to 19 points.
Schwartze also recorded a season-high four steals against Richland, Eugene, Dixon, Salem, Bourbon and Viburnum.
Other double doubles throughout the season for Schwartze came against Jamestown (15 points and 11 rebounds), Laquey (21 points and 13 rebounds), Tuscumbia (20 points and 10 rebounds), Steelville (13 points and 13 rebounds), Bourbon (13 points and 11 rebounds), Viburnum (23 points and 13 rebounds) and in the Battle of Maries County game against Belle with 11 points and 11 rebounds.
Players joining Schwartze on the MBCA Class 2, District 9 All-District Team included Lexi Ament (Crocker), Alexa Rowden (Iberia), Acelyn Bauer (Iberia), Alexis Shelton (Laquey), Taylor Brookshire (Newburg), Mary Rosa (Newburg), Brenna Couch (Plato), Mallory Moss (Richland) and Lexi Burns (Richland).
Named the Most Valuable Player (MVP) during the Battle in Bourbon Boys Basketball Tournament, Stricklan added MBCA Class 2, District 9 All-District honors to his list of senior-year accomplishments in a Vienna Eagle basketball uniform.
Reaching double digits in the scoring column during all 27 games last season, Stricklan surpassed 30 points five times which included a season-high 39 points against Stoutland in an 80-73 win over the Tigers at the Iberia Tournament.
Racking up five double doubles during his senior season, Stricklan pulled down a season-high 14 rebounds to go with 20 points against Iberia during a 66-56 win in the regular season.
During a 67-46 victory over Bourbon in Gasconade Valley Conference (GVC) action, Stricklan nearly recorded a triple double finishing with 24 points, eight rebounds and eight steals.
Also handling the basketball frequently, Stricklan recorded a season-high five assists five times in games against Richland twice, Jamestown, Chamois and Viburnum.
Joining Stricklan on the MBCA Class 2, District 9 All-District Boys Basketball Team were Adam Newton (Crocker), Jackson Burney (Crocker), Ethan Wunderlich (Eugene), Isaac Busch (Eugene), Justice Allen (Eugene), Colten Pound (Newburg), Dontae Harris (Newburg), Will Morrow (Stoutland) and Michael Kincaid (Stoutland).
More postseason accolades could be coming for the Eagles and Lady Eagles as the All-GVC Basketball Teams were selected last night (Tuesday).
